first direct and the younger generation
Added: 25 January 2012
If you've got children, nieces and nephews or grandchildren, we'd be very interested to find out how much (or how little) you think first direct has to offer them in terms of appropriate accounts and services.
In detail
What do you think we should be doing that we're not doing at the moment for the next generation? We'd love you to also tell us what age group the kids you have an affiliation to.
Have you recommended first direct to anybody you know from a younger generation?
Have they become customers? If not, what prevented them?
Did they end up choosing a bank they thought more relevant for them, e.g. for their first bank account?
Should first direct be offering specific accounts for young children, students (at school or in further education), graduates or any other group of young people? If your children bank elsewhere, was there a particular incentive for doing so?
Let us know what you think and help us to keep first direct evolving.

I remember the time of Griffin savers accounts, you desperately need kids accounts. I am now looking for for savings accountsfor my 3 children and again Nat West have offered accounts for them.
HSBC group 0 Other banks millions.
Given what the banks have done I would have thought you wanted more customers and not select ones. SORT YOURSELVES OUT.
What is the point of this section when you do not cater for kids and have no student accounts?
Hi 306 characters, the purpose of the Lab is to ask for your feedback so that we can then shape our future accordingly. So some articles on the Lab will not necessarily be something that we are offering at the moment, but something that we may offer in the future.
Added 6 days agomy son is 7 and is dying to have his own account, will end up going to metro bank as it seems they have a lot kids orientated products that help them learn about saving etc
i was not aware that fd even had anything for kids
After banking with FD since you launched I was astounded that you couldn't offer my young kids a saving account. You've lost them now as it's all set up with Santander. That's where they'll now bank - probably for life. And I'll probably follow as they seem to offer what we need.
Sorry we couldn't help on this occasion this is something we are investigating for the future.
Added 16 days agoAlong with other comments, I agree that you are definitely missing a trick. I have accounts with other banks but I prefer FD by far. Both my children have accounts with your competitors as you would not open one for them with a debit card. My eldest is about to go to university to study medicine but does not now want to change accounts - your loss I'm afraid!
I have been a FD customer for some 20yrs. The product suits me and that is why my loyality remains. It is anexcellent product and why others are trying to replicate it. FD needs to appeal to the younger generation. You will miss a trick if you do not cater for them now. I have 3 kids all with other accounts with compeitiors.
