New application - Some changes to the first direct Lab

We’ve been listening to your feedback about the Lab, and in the coming weeks we’ll be making some small changes to how it works.

These are the first in a series of updates, so we’d love to hear what you think of our plans so far...

Along with listening to your comments about everything from our card designs to our new website, we’ve also been taking note of what you have to say about the Lab itself. We’re now planning some changes to the structure of the Lab, and we’d love to know if you approve.

One user, Bran, told us:

‘In time it will be important to provide feedback on the feedback. People need to know they are being listened to and their suggestions seriously considered’.

Because you take the time to give us your ideas and opinions, we agree it's important be clear about how we are registering and using your feedback. So, we plan to:

- tell you how long you have left to comment on our live tests by giving each one an end date

- close the article to new comments after this date, and move it to a new ‘in progress’ section of the Lab

- give you a summary of the comments we have received

- let you know what we’ll be doing next.

In February, funnypeculiar wrote,

‘I quite like the look of the lab - clean, clear, easy to navigate. BUT can't see how I get back from here into the core banking site - think that needs a rework’.

To make navigation between our sites clearer, we’re adding a link back to our main website at the top of the Lab pages, and a link to the Lab from our main homepage.

We'll also be raising the word limit in our comments section to 600 characters, so you'll have a little bit more room to give us your thoughts!

We’ll let you know about some other new features shortly, but in the meantime do let us know what you think about the plans so far.

Go to the application

New application - QR codes update

As a result of your recent feedback about QR codes, we’ve added a QR code to our brochure about Mobile Banking and we’d love to know whether you think it’s helpful.

You may remember that a few months ago we asked you what you thought about QR codes and whether you find them useful. Reactions were mixed, but many people said they would find QR codes helpful in printed brochures so that they didn’t have to type a long address into their smartphone.

So we’ve added a QR code to a new brochure and we’d like to know what you think. The brochure gives an overview of Text Message Banking and our 'Banking on the go' app for the iPhone smartphone device. It features a QR code underneath the explanation of how to download the app manually. Once your smartphone scans the code, your phone’s browser will be directed to the App Store online marketplace where you can download our 'Banking on the go' app for the iPhone straight away.

Take a look at the brochure in our gallery and tell us your thoughts.

If you've got children, nieces and nephews or grandchildren, we'd be very interested to find out how much (or how little) you think first direct has to offer them in terms of appropriate accounts and services.

What do you think we should be doing that we're not doing at the moment for the next generation? We'd love you to also tell us what age group the kids you have an affiliation to.

Have you recommended first direct to anybody you know from a younger generation?

Have they become customers? If not, what prevented them?

Did they end up choosing a bank they thought more relevant for them, e.g. for their first bank account?

Should first direct be offering specific accounts for young children, students (at school or in further education), graduates or any other group of young people? If your children bank elsewhere, was there a particular incentive for doing so?

Let us know what you think and help us to keep first direct evolving.

Go to the application

We’ve recently redesigned our eNewsletter and we’d love to know what you think of it compared to our old one.

Take a look at the gallery and tell us your thoughts.

In August, we made some changes to our monthly eNewsletter. It still contains exclusive customer offers and interesting articles, but we’ve refreshed a few things and we’d like to know what you think of it compared to our old one.

These days we all get a lot of emails, so we’ve made the design easier to skim-read, with descriptive headlines that explain the crux of the article, even if you don’t read it fully. We’ve also refreshed the layout to make it more structured, and we’ve changed the name of the newsletter too.

We’d love to know what you think of it compared to the old one. View them in the gallery, then leave us some feedback.

Go to the application
