White text on black is hard to read and (poor accessibility). Do your new designs taking into account mobile devices? (adaptive or responsive)... I frequently read mail on the move so design/brand/message consistency should be very similar for each device experience
I like the new design - classy and stands out as still being "First Direct"-like
A classic 'form vs function' debate I think. The old design was very beautiful to look at but not very efficient as a Newsletter. The new design is still classy and very firstdirect - less stylised - but more effective as a vehicle for communicating with customers. A newsletter shouldn't be a work of art for people to look at - it should be read. For that reason I prefer the new style.
new one - find the white print on black a bit difficult to read at times
I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of newsletters as I generally find them full of promotional material with little informative value. Given the choice I prefer the latest design as I find FD's house colours (White on Black) very unattractive. The latest design appears to reduce reliance on printing in this format.

Group.
Very attractive classy website which will create interest. Still keeping to the 'Brand' which I believe is informative, helpful and always available
